The Impact of Gambling

Our debut Operator Interface question: "How has your state lottery and/or legalized gambling impacted your route and accounts recently? Are operators in your state working toward partnership agreements with the lottery like those in Iowa, who are now operating pull tab games for the lottery system?"

Please post your answer in the "Comment" section below along with your name, your company name and the city where you are located.

Thanks for your participation,

To help stimulate the discussion, we welcome comments from all members of the trade although only remarks from operators are likely to be reprinted in our monthly Operator Interface section of the print magazine.

Early feedback from phone calls address the pending legal decision in Georgia on the legality of eightliners. Despite an early ruling against their legality, the devices are still on the streets, although their operators have experienced a revenue drop.

Another gray game issue comes from Ohio, where an operator reports the popularity explosion of Tic Tac Fruit, a game of chance with payback whose manufacturer argues that it is a game of skill. A county judge issued an injunction against confiscating the machines, sending some countertop revenues down as much as 30%.

How do gray games affect amusement in your neck of the woods? Is there a crack down or are they being allowed to slide?
